Biomechanical Assessment & Insoles
Pain in your feet, ankles, knees or legs can sometimes be linked to the way your feet and lower limbs move when you stand and walk.
At The Foot Clinic, our biomechanical assessments look at how your feet, joints and lower limbs work together. We can identify areas that may be contributing to pain or discomfort and recommend treatment or support where appropriate.

Helping you understand the way you move
A biomechanical assessment is an examination of your feet and lower limbs and the way they function during movement.
Your practitioner may assess your:
Foot posture and alignment
Ankle and joint movement
Walking pattern (gait)
Muscle strength and flexibility
Areas of pressure or discomfort
Footwear
This helps us build a clearer picture of what may be contributing to your symptoms.

What can a biomechanical assessment help with?
You may benefit from an assessment if you are experiencing problems such as:
Heel or arch pain
Plantar fasciitis
Painful or tired feet
Ankle discomfort
Recurring corns or callus caused by pressure
Knee or lower-limb discomfort
Problems associated with foot posture
Discomfort when walking, working or exercising
You don't need to know whether your problem is biomechanical before booking. Your practitioner can assess your symptoms and advise you on the most appropriate next step.

Orthotic Insoles
Where appropriate, we may recommend orthotic insoles to support the feet, improve comfort and alter the way pressure is distributed.
We use LBG Medical Bio orthotics, a range of professional orthotic devices designed for use by foot-health professionals.
Rather than simply choosing an insole from a shelf, your practitioner selects the most suitable device following your assessment. The orthotic can then be adjusted or modified where required to suit your individual needs.
Not everyone who has a biomechanical assessment will need orthotics. We will only recommend them when we believe they are appropriate.
Already wearing orthotics?
If you already use orthotics but they are uncomfortable, worn out or no longer seem to be helping, we can assess both your feet and your existing devices.
We can advise whether they can be adjusted or whether replacing them would be more appropriate.
